Jul - Oct Fruits Phoenix dactylifera · Egypt

Sep - Dec Fruits Punica granatum · Asyut & Upper Egypt
Dec - Feb Fruits Fragaria × ananassa · Ismailia & Beheira
The fruit category is where Egypt’s climate earns specialty margins. Lychee opens in June — a short, intense window demanding tight cold-chain choreography. Mango follows from July: a multi-variety portfolio (Keitt, Awees, Zebdia, Sukarya and more) running into November, programmed by variety for retail, wholesale and food-service.
Khalal-stage Barhi dates — yellow, crunchy, caramel-sweet, sold fresh rather than dried — ship July through October and are a program almost no origin outside the region can supply. Wonderful-led pomegranate runs September through December, and Festival strawberry carries the category into winter, December through February, filling the EU gap between Spanish supply windows.
Together the five programs give a fruit buyer a counter-seasonal pipeline from early summer to late winter, every load pre-cooled at origin and routed air or sea to fit the product’s biology and your program’s economics.

Routing follows the fruit. Strawberry, lychee and Barhi dates ship air as standard — strawberry pre-cooled to 0–1 °C within hours of picking, lychee at 1–2 °C under high humidity, Barhi in 3–5 kg protected cartons. Mango flies for premium retail and sails for wholesale, always held at 12–13 °C — never lower, chilling injury is a real risk. Pomegranate ships reefer at 5–7 °C in 11.1 kg cartons or 2 kg retail trays.
Retail formats are packed at origin: 500 g and 1 kg strawberry punnets, 500 g lychee punnets, 2.5–5 kg mango cartons sized per market. Strawberry packs in BRC-food certified facilities.
Winter strawberry is the anchor EU program — Egyptian Festival fills December–February when Spanish volume dips. Pomegranate and mango support autumn retail. Air into main EU hubs or reefer 8–14 days.
Punnet-ready strawberry from BRC-certified packing leads the UK program, with Keitt mango and pomegranate for retail and wholesale. Air freight for shelf-critical windows; reefer to Felixstowe in 10–13 days.
The Gulf is the natural market for khalal Barhi dates and takes premium mango varieties through ethnic and mainstream retail alike. Reefer in 4–7 days or same-week air; halal certification available on request.
July through November. The portfolio covers multiple commercial varieties — Keitt, Awees, Zebdia, Sukarya among them — so a program can run the full five months with variety handovers planned in advance, at Brix from 13 to 18 depending on variety.
Barhi harvested yellow and crunchy — the khalal ripeness stage — and sold as fresh fruit rather than dried. The window is July through October, shipped in 3–5 kg protected cartons under cold chain at 0–2 °C. It is a specialty the Gulf knows well and Western retail is discovering.
December through February — precisely the trough between Spanish autumn and spring peaks. Festival variety, sun-ripened, field-packed into 500 g or 1 kg punnets in BRC-food certified facilities and pre-cooled to 0–1 °C within hours of harvest.
Strawberry, lychee and Barhi dates fly as standard — their shelf life is spent in days, not weeks. Mango and pomegranate run both modes: air for premium retail launches, reefer for volume programs. We quote both routings so the margin decision is yours.
Wonderful leads the export program — deep red, Brix 15–17 — supported by Manfaluti, Baladi and the early 116 variety. The season runs September through December, shipped reefer at 5–7 °C in 11.1 kg cartons or 2 kg retail trays.
