▸ The program

The early-season window, owned.

Egyptian table grapes exist for one commercial reason: they fill the gap between the end of Southern Hemisphere arrivals and the start of the European harvest. Superior — the white seedless that opens our season in April — is among the first northern-hemisphere fruit on EU shelves each year, landing in a window where supply is short and programs pay a premium.

The calendar then runs in succession: Flame, the red seedless, from June; Red Globe, the large-berry seeded icon that travels exceptionally well by sea, June through September; Crimson from August; and Autumn Royal — the premium black seedless with Brix that can pass 20 — closing the season into October. Five varieties, one origin, April to October without a re-sourcing exercise.

Every variety ships against a Brix floor — from 14+ on early Superior to 20+ on Autumn Royal — with berry sizing specified in millimetres per variety, so what arrives is what was contracted.

▸ Packing & cold chain

Packed to spec, shipped cold.

The standard export unit is a 5 kg net carton; retail programs take 500 g punnets or clamshells packed at origin, ready for shelf. Fruit is field pre-cooled to 0 °C the day of harvest and ships in high-humidity reefer, with SO₂ sheets applied for extended sea-freight programs.

For first-of-season retail launches — Superior in April, Autumn Royal’s opening weeks — air freight from Cairo is available when the calendar is worth more than the freight differential.

▸ Destination notes

Programmed by market.

European Union

The April–June Superior window is the program EU buyers come for — white seedless on shelf before European production starts. Punnet-packed at origin under EU MRL discipline; Rotterdam and Hamburg in 8–14 days.

United Kingdom

Punnet-ready 500 g formats from BRCGS-aligned packing, sized for UK multiple retail. Felixstowe and Tilbury in 10–13 days; SO₂-sheeted for shelf-life security.

GCC

Red Globe leads Gulf demand — large berries, deep colour, strong shelf presence — with Superior and Flame in support. Jebel Ali and Dammam in 4–7 days keeps fruit days fresher than longer-haul origins.

▸ Frequently asked

Buyer questions, answered.

When are Egyptian table grapes in season?

April through October. Superior (white seedless) opens the season April–June, Flame runs June–August, Red Globe June–September, Crimson August–October, and Autumn Royal August–October.

Which Egyptian grape varieties are seedless?

Superior (white), Flame (red), Crimson (red) and Autumn Royal (black) are seedless. Red Globe is the one seeded variety in the program — its large berries and thick skin are exactly why it remains the Gulf and Asia favourite.

What Brix and berry size do Egyptian grapes ship at?

Each variety has a contracted floor: Superior 14+ Brix at 16–22 mm; Flame 18+ at 15–24 mm; Red Globe 17–18 at 22–30 mm; Crimson 16+ at 14–22 mm; Autumn Royal 20+ at 22–24 mm.

How is shelf life protected on sea freight?

Fruit is field pre-cooled to 0 °C on harvest day and ships in high-humidity reefer with SO₂ sheets for extended programs. Egypt’s 8–14 day transit to North Europe is structurally shorter than Southern Hemisphere routes, which is itself a freshness advantage.

Can grapes be packed retail-ready at origin?

Yes — 500 g punnets or clamshells packed in our network’s facilities at origin, labelled to your spec, in carton master cases. That removes a repacking step and a day or two of shelf life lost at destination.
